Michaela Qvale, President
A senior getting her degree in Film Studies with a Concentration in Business Management, Michaela's entire world revolves around Film and TV. She's currently the Production Manager of the North Fork TV Festival and an intern at AMC Networks in Current Production and Development. Once upon a time an actress, you can still find embarrassing clips of her all over the internet. She works primarily as Producer, AD, and UPM on shoots, but also writes her own material. An OG member of DKA, Michaela used to be the social chair and the treasurer so feel free ask her about any or all of it! She loves baby DKA members!
Lacey Dikkers, Vice PResident
Lacey is a junior in Columbia College majoring in History with a concentration in Classics. Lacey joined DKA in her first semester freshman year, excited about an outlet for her love of films. She has loved all of the opportunities that come with DKA and would not be half as knowledgeable about the entertainment industry without it. She enjoys DKA immensely and looks forward to what the future of DKA will hold.
Josh Berenzweig, Treasurer
Josh is a Columbia College sophomore.
Caroline Casey, Secretary
Caroline is a senior (graduating January 2019) at Barnard majoring in film. She joined DKA in the fall of 2016 to find a place within the film community. Because of DKA she has found a home with people who have supported and inspired her to continue her film journey. Caroline grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut with a wide variety of pets and is passionate about classical ballet, skiing, the outdoors and music. On weekends, she is equally likely to be taking care of the horses at her childhood barn as she is to be at dance competitions acting like a dance mom for her younger sister.
Xuelong Mu, CINEMATIC AFFAIRS & PRODUCTION
Xuelong, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering, is the current Cinematic Affairs and Social co-chair. He joined DKA in his sophomore year as a change of pace from his engineering studies, and caught the filmmaking bug right away. He's lived on set ever since. Some say you can still see him shooting in the tunnels to this day.
Rory Slattery, PUBLIC RELATIONS
Rory is a Columbia College sophomore, majoring in archaeology and film & media studies. She is originally from Washington State. She joined DKA during her first semester freshman year, excited to turn her love for movies into production opportunities and meet other film lovers. In addition to filmmaking, Rory likes skiing, tofu pad Thai, and pop music.
Sam Hamilton, STANDARDS
Sam is a Columbia College senior, majoring in film & media studies. He is originally from Sag Harbor, NY, and was raised in a family heavily involved in the film and theatre arts industries. In addition to filmmaking, Sam enjoys working on his car–a 1966 Ford Mustang which he restored for his senior project in high school–and listening to Radiohead.
Darcy Cagen, PROGRAMMING
Darcy is a Barnard College senior, majoring in film studies. In addition to her EC position as programming officer, she also chairs Cinema Literacy and Industry Education. She loves film festivals, breakfast food, coffee, music, writing, and fashion.
